WHERE DID FEBRUARY GO?!

We can't believe it's been a month since we uploaded our first post! February has been a busy month for us here at Eleven Oh Seven, with S off on a whirlwind trip to Paris, (keep your eyes peeled for a post on that next month) us cooking up a storm in the kitchen on pancake day, lusting over this season's trends and with Uni work keeping us busy and trying not to procrastinate, we thought we'd round up our month with you through some of our Instagram photos:

We're looking forward to March with St Davids Day (Dydd Gŵyl Dewi for those Welsh-speakers out there!) on Sunday too; we've already stocked up on Welsh cakes and daffodils to celebrate! We're giving the traditional Welsh Lady costumes a miss this year, though...

Happy #StDavidsDay weekend!

TREND WATCH: THAT 70s LOOK

As fashion lovers and students we love to see new trends swirling through the high street. A trend we’re loving at the moment is the 70s being re-created. Anywhere you turn you see floppy hats, fur gilets, 70s prints and even flared cut trousers are making a comeback (I’m not sure if we're quite ready to don the flairs quite yet!) With that said here are some of our top wishlist picks from the retro trend.
Topshop Daisy Print Shirt Dress: £55

Topshop Pussybow Shirt Dress: £42

Topshop Wide Brim Fedora: £28

Free People Jolene Dress: £138

New Look Camel Sleeveless Double-Breasted Coat: £39.99

Missguided Wallace Double Layer Dogtooth Print Playsuit in Monochrome: £30

K's top pick: Being one of my favourite brands, something from Free People had to be on this list somewhere! They always rock the bohemian vibe and are designing great things for this season's 70s trend. Free People is a little more on the pricey side, but this peach-coloured dress is so gorgeous, it's hard not to want it! The wide sleeve style paired with the lace details on the dress makes it beautifully hippy-ish. Shown as styled on the Free People website with lots of bangles and a few choker-style necklaces, this outfit is something we can imagine Kendall Jenner wearing at this year's Coachella festival.

S’s top pick: I adore the daisy printed dress, from one of my favourite high street stores (hence the amount of Topshop featured in this blog post!) The bold floral print and cut of the dress looks like it could've been worn by Twiggy in the Seventies. Priced at £55, you can wear this dress during cold days paired with tights or during the summer months with sandals and sunnies.

Enjoy experimenting with this season's 70s trend, we for sure are already planning our purchases!
Happy shopping!

SAVE IT FOR A RAINY DAY

Source: Pinterest

In Wales rainy days happen quite often, so we are not fazed by the thought of continuing with our daily routine in the pouring rain. Although some days we look out the window to a wet Wales and can't face leaving the house (this usually happens on the weekend). So today at Eleven Oh Seven we share our favourite things to do during a lazy rainy day:

Bake - Spending the whole day at home with nothing to do is the perfect opportunity to dust off your cake tins, be inspired by Mary Berry and get cooking! As lovers of baking we like to spend time in the kitchen on rainy days, plus you're left with delicious treats to snack on through out the day too!

Binge TV - Netflix is S' go-to when looking for entertainment during a rainy day, and with so much choice you can spend hours binge watching a TV series' such as Gossip Girl or watch a couple of films from their large collection, all wrapped up in your duvet with some snacks of course.

Source: Pinterest

Have a Bath - There's nothing more relaxing than getting into a warm bath full of bubbles (anything from Lush or The Body Shop will do!) and being able to unwind. This fits perfectly with S' Netflix suggestion as K usually watches some sort of catch-up TV or chick-flick whilst chilling out in the bath!

Exercise - Sometimes, when the weather's horrible outside, it can reflect on your mood. This definitely happens to us, and on days where we feel a little sluggish, we find that doing a quick cardio session (Fitness Blender on YouTube do brilliant ones) or some yoga can help boost our moods almost instantaneously. As well as being good for your health, exercise is great for making you feel good. Maybe a little sweaty, but definitely good.

PANCAKE PARTY

With pancake day coming up tomorrow, (already? That really crêped up on us! Sorry, we couldn't resist a pancake pun) we thought we'd share our foolproof, super-easy recipe for pancakes. You don't have to be Mary Berry to master these yummy treats, so why not have a go?! This recipe makes about 8-10 pancakes, so alter the measurements depending on how many you want to make.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
145g self raising flour
100g caster sugar
-  a large pinch of salt
2 eggs, beaten
240ml milk
2tbsp cooking oil (we used olive)
-  butter, to melt in the pan before cooking your pancakes
-  plus anything you want to flavour your pancakes afterwards, like the classic sugar and lemon combo, honey, Nutella...

HOW TO DO IT:
-  In a bowl, mix together the dry ingredients (flour, sugar and salt)
-  In another bowl, mix together the remaining ingredients (beaten eggs, milk and oil)
-  Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir until you get a smooth consistency batter.
-  Heat up a small teaspoon of butter in a frying pan (we used a tiny fried-egg size pan to create the perfect sized pancake)
-  Cook each side of the pancake for a minute or so on each side, or until golden in colour
-  Enjoy with your favourite toppings!

There you go, six simple steps to create these delicious (trust us!) pancakes.
Have a happy pancake day!

OUR TOP BEAUTY PICKS

Since starting university, we have quickly become beauty enthusiasts. Whether it's new make up releases or beauty tutorials, we are obsessed! Today we’re sharing with you our current favourite beauty obsessions.

Whenever I find myself late in the morning and don’t have much time to spend on my make up, I will concentrate of three features on my face: brows, eyelashes and lips.  As long as I have mascara and a bit colour on my lips I feel ready for the day ahead.

When it comes to mascaras throughout my years of wearing make up I have tried a lot, but out of all the mascaras I have tried YSL baby doll and Tarte lights camera lashes have become my all time favourites. Both mascaras give the illusion of long feathered eyelashes.

A lip colour I am loving during these winter months is Rimmel lasting finish by Kate lipstick in the shade Rossetto. I mix it with a nude lip colour from Topshop to create a more subtle look for daytime.

Urban Decay is one of my favourite beauty brands; ever since receiving the Naked 3 pallet I am obsessed! I very rarely use any other eye shadows as I feel that all I need is in the pallet. I even use ‘Darkside’ as a brow shadow as it is the perfect colour to match my hair. The colours in the Naked 3 pallets are very pigmented, blend easily and last a long time without creasing.

I am also in love with Urban Decay’s blush pallet: the colours compliment my skin tone and the products blend perfectly for a natural blush.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Eyeshadow, (slightly battered!) Collection Concealer and Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish

Liz Earle: Cleanse and Polish
This plant-based cleanser has been my go-to for removing my make-up for years now (thanks to my mum for sourcing the brand in its infancy!) and I have no intention of ever changing it! The products creamy consistency is kind to my skin, doesn't include harsh or nasty chemicals and it leaves my face feeling as soft as, well, you know how the saying goes! With the starter kit (including the 100ml pump bottle and a muslin cloth) costing £15.50, it's not the cheapest cleanser on the market, but if you're looking for a more natural skincare product to include in your routine, this Liz Earle cleanser is definitely worth it.

Collection: Lasting Perfection Concealer
This cover-up is my all-time favourite. I gave in to the hype a few years ago when everyone and his dog seemed to be raving about it, and I haven't looked back since - I've repurchased it so many times! Since I suffer from areas of redness on my face and discolouration beneath my eyes, this product is perfect for covering these unwanted areas of colour right up along with those pesky spots, and more importantly, it stays put.  Priced at £4.19, this cover-up is a no-brainer for me, as something that really works and doesn't irritate my skin, too.

Maybelline: Colour Tattoo Eyeshadow in 'On and On Bronze'
This cream gel eyeshadow from Maybelline is my definite favourite when I don't have a lot of time in the mornings, but still want some colour on my lids. The formulation is buttery and so easy to blend, a smoky eye look is easily attainable in seconds. The product claims to last for 24 hours, and although maybe it'd struggle to last that long (on my unprimed eyelids, that is) it gives a damn good go! The pigmentation of the eyeshadow is brilliant too - you can apply just one coat all over the lid for a gorgeous shimmery glow (the bronze colour matches well with my brown eyes) or can build it up for a more glam evening look, using more in the crease of the eyelid for a more smoky effect. Priced at £4.99, I'm struggling to find reasons why I haven't bought the whole range!

PROCRASTINATION VS MOTIVATION

Studying in University is so different to school or college. Whatever subject you choose, your course will require you to do the majority of your work in your own time. For queen procrastinators like us, it can be hard to manage our time wisely, especially if there's a Pretty Little Liars episode (or five) to catch up on! Plus if we want to get all our work done on time AND have a social life, it can sometimes feel impossible to accomplish both. So, we've made a little list to share with you on what we find that helps us most to keep motivated when working from home. Without further ado, here are our top tips for how NOT to procrastinate:

1. Have breaks
It sounds silly, but if you chain yourself to your desk and try and force inspiration to strike for too long, your mind will wander and you'll end up wasting far more time than you spend actually working! So get out of the house into the fresh air or go for a coffee with a friend: this will give your mind a little breathing space.

2. Put your phone away/turn it on silent
Do you really need to update your Insta feed every 10 minutes? It helps if you turn your email notifications off too, seeing ASOS offers isn't healthy for the working mind (or your student bank-balance!)

3. Set yourself manageable daily goals
Don't be too ambitious, make a do-able list for yourself to accomplish throughout the day and reward yourself with a treat when you finish something. We like to look at is as motivation, not bribery!

4. Work in an appropriate environment
Each person has a different preference for this, whether it's being cocooned in bed, sat at your desk, or in silence at the library. Finding the right working place for you is key.

5. Buddy up.
Sometimes spending hours working on your own can be soul-crushingly boring, (believe us, we've been there), so grafting with someone else in the same room can be healthy for the both of you! It stops K from getting distracted so easily, and resorting to Facebook, that's for sure.

Going for a walk, setting up your workspace the way you want it and writing your lists down can all help beat working blues

We hope these little tips give you some help with being motivated! What're your top tips for how to stay focussed? Tweet us your suggestions @eleven0hseven, we'd love to hear from you!
