AUTUMN WINTER COAT INSPIRATION

Hello Everyone
It's official, coat season is upon us. In the last week Wales has experienced freezing fog, torrential rain and bitterly cold wind.  Winter has most definitely arrived in the last seven days. For me, as someone who feels the cold, coats and jackets are a must over the winter months. I've spent the last few weeks browsing the high street in search of a new winter coat/jacket. Today I wanted to share with you my favourite styles ruling the rails this season.

1. ASOS
2. Topshop
The puffer coat is one of the most popular trends this winter. I love how warm and cozy it looks, like you are wrapping yourself in a duvet. Choosing the perfect one for you will be easy as there are so many out there to choose from. Khaki to red, long to short  - there is something for everyone. My favourite is the navy one from Topshop.

3. ASOS
For a smarter coat this winter the woolen trench is still the number one choice. The tailored cut of the coat creates the ultimate girl boss outfit, perfect for those cold yet dry days during winter. This grey one from Topshop has gone straight to the top of my wish list.

Who doesn't like a shearling jacket in the winter, it's just like being wrapped in a blanket all day. I am loving the way the high street are experimenting with different colour ways for the classic jacket. My favourite is the khaki one from Marks & Spencer.

I hope this post has got you as excited as I am for coat season.

See you Sunday for another Halloween inspired post.

NEW SEASON FASHION: High Street Edition

Hi all!
As August draws to a close, the high street stores are beginning the shift from Summer to Autumn styles. From the odd winter coat dotted around the stores to the distinct change of colour gracing the rails, you can't help but notice the changing of the seasons. This week's post is all about new season fashion, what's new on the high street and our favourite pieces from some of these stores.

Topshop
Topshop for us is the ultimate 'cool' Hight Street store. London-inspired edgy street style trends fill the rails making it one of the most popular hight street stores today.

Zara
Zara is an accessories favourite for us, along with structured pieces and comfy basics. It's a little more on the expensive end of the high street but definitely worth it for classic pieces that you will be able to wear from season to season - perfect for the transitional months.

ASOS
ASOS is the website that we can spend hours scrolling through, with the biggest selection of styles for any occasion, you're sure to find the perfect outfit.

Jumpsuit with Wrap and Self Tie

The New Forever T-Shirt with Long Sleeves and Dip Back

Textured Longerline Jacket

New Look
A place we always look for on-trend basics and seasonal styles, New Look is a go-to for us to buy affordable pieces. We love the basics here along with more trend-led pieces like this gorgeous layered burgundy skirt.

Burgundy Lace Balloon Midi Skirt

Khaki Longline Bomber Jacket

Black Denim Skinny Dungarees

Black Sateen Bardot Neck Dress

Embroidered Ripped Skinny Jeans

Burgundy Frill Trim Cold Shoulder Top

For us shopaholics, a new season is so exciting! We can't wait to head out to the shops to update our closets and begin the transition from Summer to Autumn. Layering is a favourite for the upcoming transitional months so we're looking forward to mixing up styles in our wardrobes. We hope this post has gotten you excited about the fashion season and new trends to come!

MINI HAUL: H&M, ASOS & RENATE

Happy Sunday!
Today's post is a little retail update: Uni stress often ends in online and window shopping, and this little collection of beauty, accessory and fashion bits is K's mini haul from the past month or so - read on to see what she got!

ASOS

I think I can speak for both of us when I say that ASOS is a go-to when we're looking for some retail therapy. With so many products and brands to choose from, we can easily spend ages on the site. Plus, student discount doesn't hurt either! I managed to control my spendy ways and only purchased a few bits - including some things I'd been wanting to get for a while.

I've been wanting to get my hands on one of the Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate nude collection lipsticks ever since they were released back in the summer and saw everyone raving about them. I was torn between either shade 43 or 45, but chose the latter due to the more pink-toned base. The formulation is moisturising on the lips and lasts well, although it will need topping up throughout the day.

I know I'm a little late to the fluffy pom-pom charm trend, but I couldn't not get this when I saw it! I've been needing a new charm for my keys as I'm constantly losing them in my Mary Poppins-esque bag so I thought this Skinny Dip fluffy charm would be perfect! It's a little larger than I expected, but I love it! I use it both on my keys or my bag depending on what I'm wearing.

I've heard great things about Elegant Touch press-on nails, and have been wanting to try out some for a while now, so took the plunge and purchased them. I got these ones in a dark purple/navy colour, and they're matte, which I love. I'm yet to try them, but will keep you updated on how I find them!

H&M

This week, H&M opened their new store (which is now the largest in the UK!) in Cardiff St David's 2 with a launch event and 20% off everything, so we couldn't resist popping in. Now housing the brand's new beauty line and homeware, we picked up a few pieces each: look out for S' buys in a post soon. Also, how great are the bags they used for the launch?!

Since I'm a self-confessed jumper obsessive, I couldn't leave this rib-knit one. It's super oversized and comfy - perfect for winter days. It has a zip on one side too which adds a little detail to the generally baggy look.

We've heard so many good things about H&M's beauty launch from the autumn, and were so happy to hear it would be stocked in Cardiff! I had a quick browse of the beauty area of the store, but will be back to have more of a look when it's less busy! I picked up this powder blusher in Golden Peach after swatching it - it's a beautiful light pink with a slight glittery sheen. It's not super bold, but is buildable, but with a shimmery blush like this, I think that 'less is more'.

RENATE
Local boutique Renate (in Morgan Arcade, Cardiff) celebrated their first birthday this week with a lovely event (thank you for inviting us!) and a chance to shop with 20% off everything. With brands including Just Female, Minimum and gorgeous jewellery brand From St Xavier, it was hard not to want to buy everything!

My student budget allowed a small purchase and I couldn't resist trying something from newly-stocked Herbivore Botanicals, an ethical and organic beauty brand. This blood orange lip butter smells absolutely gorgeous, using only natural oils and made with Shea butter that keeps your lips soft and moisturised for hours. Will definitely be looking to get something else from this brand sometime soon - it's well worth the price tag!

Does anyone else shop when they're feeling stressed? Please tell us we're not the only ones!
Check back tomorrow for our Month on Instagram for November, and then we're into December! We can't wait for a well-deserved break at home and getting into the Christmas spirit.

LATE SUMMER DREAMING: Autumn Workwear

This week's Late Summer Dreaming post is all about the new season's fashion, in particular looking at more formal and tailored clothing. Perfect for work or a new term at University, we hope these Autumn workwear outfits give you a little inspiration into the tailoring trends we're loving for the new season.

The Full Midi Skirt
The midi is a perfect choice for work, especially this simple textured one from New Look. Pair with a neutral-toned top, shoes and bag to keep the outfit formal, but add a little sparkle and your own style through your jewellery. We love this layered floral necklace from M&S.

Skirt: New Look          Top: H&M           Necklace: M&S           Bag: ASOS

The Cropped Trouser
The cropped trouser is a great seasonal item and works really well with heels. Pair them with some nude shoes to give the illusion of longer legs, and match your bag to your shoes to make your look appear more put together. We love this relaxed jacket from H&M to soften the outfit.
Jacket: H&M        Trousers: ASOS        T-shirt: Topshop        Heels: Topshop        Bag: M&S

The Contrast Collar Dress
Simple, yet chic, this dress is a go-to on sunnier days, or even when you don't know what to wear! Team with dark shoes and bag and some dainty jewellery and your look is complete. We love this pencil dress from Tempest - #MadeinWales!
Bag: ASOS       Entwined Rings: Topshop       Band Ring: Topshop       Boots: Topshop       Dress: Tempest

The Flared Trouser
The 70s trend is continuing into Autumn/Winter and the flared trouser, while maybe being a bold choice, is perfect for the workplace. Flattering and bang-on trend, we love this look. Pair with burgundy accessories to complete your Autumnal outfit.

Trousers: River Island at ASOS      Shirt: Oasis       Bag: Oasis      Watch: Olivia Burton       Shoes: ASOS

What are your workwear staples? Will you be braving the flare this season? Let us know!

LATE SUMMER DREAMING: Casual Fashion

With this month's theme being all about late summer dreaming, today we've put together a fashion inspired post for you all. At this time of year we're thinking about the transition from summer into autumn (or fall, as you say in the US) and with that, a new year and term of University.

So today we're talking casual outfits that will be perfect for the transitioning seasons for your day-to-day life: lectures at Uni, a catch-up lunch with a friend, or just popping to do some shopping. Enjoy!

K's Picks

This laid back look is very simple to achieve, yet it looks super put-together. I love the addition of the leather jacket and some cut-out black pumps to the distressed denim, it gives the outfit a more grungy, harder edge.

Jacket: Miss Selfridge         Shirt: New Look         Skirt: Monki at ASOS         Pumps: Dolce Vita at Nordstrom

This outfit is super casual, yet still looks summery for those (hopefully!) warm transitioning days. The slouchy tee and jeans teamed with this tailored fedora and gorgeous watch balance out the outfit, mixing the perfect amount of casual with more structured accessories.

Hat: ASOS          Watch: Olivia Burton          Birkenstocks: Office          Tshirt: Zara          Jeans: Topshop

S' Picks

When it comes to Autumn, you can expect more rainy days than sunny ones! To prepare for the damper weather, a light jacket is both chic and practical. Paired with black jeans and a simple long-sleeved tee, this outfit has a slight Parisian feel to it.

Coat: ASOS           Tee: H&M            Jeans: Topshop            Shoes: Topshop            Bag: Zara

For more of a laid back effortless look, this shirt dress teamed with a pair of New Balance trainers and a backpack inspired by this outfit is perfect for any casual day.

Dress: Missguided               Bag: Topshop               Shoes: Schuh

We hope we've given you some inspiration for your casual wardrobe for the upcoming changing of seasons, and a little insight into our own personal styles.

SUMMER WEDDING: Style

Summer wedding season is upon us this month! With both of us attending weddings, we thought we'd put together some inspiration for outfits that we love and that would be perfect for a formal summer event.

Floral Dress
We know that florals for summer are hardly groundbreaking, but this muted pastel design would be gorgeous to wear to a summer event. Teamed with all-white accessories, this outfit is classy and understated.

Co-Ord
A summer co-ord is perfect for a summer event, especially if you dress it up with the right accessories. We love this tile print embellished co-ord from ASOS as it's dressier than a usual co-ord, and paired with muted pink shoes and a clutch, this outfit pulls together perfectly.

Embellished Co-Ord Blazer & Shorts - ASOS         Clutch - New Look         Heels - Zara

The Mini
Flirty and fun, a shorter dress has become a classic and a staple in every wardrobe. You can't go wrong with a classic cut dress, it's always a winner. Pairing a classic black dress with a pop of vibrant colour makes this look stand out from the crowd.

The dress: Oasis  The bag: Ted Baker The shoes: ASOS

The Midi
Midi dresses have become very popular this past year with many of the leading high street stores and high end designers creating collections that feature this popular hemline length. Midi dresses are perfect for an event like weddings; they're ultra feminine, elegant and chic. Choosing light colours  and floral prints makes this midi dress from Coast perfect for any summer wedding, paired with these nude heels from Kurt Geiger your look is complete.

The dress: Coast                       The shoes: Kurt Geiger

The Maxi
A maxi dress can always feel a bit risky for a wedding. At the end of the day no one wants to look too formal and out do the bride, but during summer time you can find many lovely and dressed down maxi dresses. It is  the perfect season to don the long flowing dresses for a special occasion.

The dress: ASOS

We hope this post has given you a little inspiration into what outfits we're loving for the wedding season this year. Are you attending an event this summer? Let us know on Twitter!

Be sure to check back next week with the second part to this post, dedicated to hair and beauty for summer weddings.

In the meantime, check out our profiles on Pinterest and Instagram to see what we're up to!

SUMMER GETAWAY: Style File

Welcome to this week's Summer Getaway post! Today we're talking all things style and what to wear while you're on holiday. If you missed our first Summer Getaway post last week, read it here, as we'll be creating our style looks for those destinations!

  Beach Getup

  Look One

We are loving all-white everything this summer, especially as this pure colour makes your tan look amazing! Taking inspiration from boho chic, we created this gorgeous beach outfit. Perfect for chilled out days topping up your tan on the beach.

Top: Topshop                      Shorts: Topshop              Hat: Topshop                Necklace: Accessorize             Shoes: Topshop

  Look Two

This relaxed, thrown-together look is perfect for summer. Team a classic white tee with a slouchy boyfriend-fit shirt, some comfy shorts and a floppy hat and you're all set for exploring the local town, or going for a walk along the beach. We love the use of gold jewellery too - it finishes off this look. We've paired our look together with this gorgeous powder blue Olivia Burton watch.

Shorts: River Island           Shirt: Free People          Floppy Hat: Topshop         T-Shirt: Topshop          Watch: Olivia Burton

Bright Lights, Big City

Look One

When we think of NY style, we think of effortless chic with an edge. We decided to create an outfit centred around tailored trousers. This pastel pink pair of cropped trousers are perfect for summer days in New York. We decided to pair these trousers with flat pumps but this outfit would be perfect for the evening paired with nude heels.

Trousers: ASOS                        Top: Missguided                             Shoes: H&M                                  Bag:  Topshop

   Look Two

This outfit is perfect for stopping for lunch and drinks in the city sunshine. The neutral colours make this outfit look effortless and city-chic. Swap these strappy heels for some flats for a more relaxed outfit to explore the streets of New York (and do a little shopping, obviously!)

Blouse: H&M                            Bag: Zara                            Skirt: Zara                              Heeled Sandals: New Look

Stay Styled

Look One

Inspired by the 70s style that is seen everywhere this season, this relaxing outfit is ideal for when you're exploring your staycation location. We paired a suede T-shirt dress with black gladiator sandals and tassel cross body bag for this casual 70s look.

Dress: Asos                                        Shoes: Topshop                                        Bag: Missguided

Look Two

A white tee and blue jean combo is always a classic look for summer. It's casual and comfortable: perfect for exploring seaside towns and lunching on the coast in the summer breeze. We styled this look with black and white trainers with a boxy, black quilted bag.

T-shirt: ASOS                     Trainers: New Balance                      Jeans: Topshop                         Bag: Zara

The Party Dress

Look One

For an evening look we felt that this white lace playsuit was perfect, accessorised with a discreet gold arm cuff. We decided to add a pop of colour to this outfit through the shoes and bag with these bright blues shoes and bag. These look great with the simplistic white playsuit and are ideal for summer nights.

Playsuit: Missguided            Arm Cuff: ASOS               Shoes:River Island                 Bag: River Island

    Look Two

This pastel blue and white skater-style dress is the perfect option for day-to-night wear. We love the plunge neckline and spaghetti straps on this Missguided number, and paired with white accessories, like these chic heeled sandals and boxy bag will instantly dress up your outfit for an evening spent sipping cocktails by the sea.

Dress: Missguided                             Strappy Heels: New Look                                   Bag: Topshop

We hope this post has given you some inspiration for different outfits you could wear on holiday, wherever the destination!
