Sunglasses Favorites SS16

Happy Tuesday!
Spring is well and truly upon us, meaning more sunnier days and lighter evenings, so it's time to bring out the best accessories of all: sunglasses. For today's post we're talking our current favourite sunglasses for Spring/Summer.

S's Favourites

Metal Bar: Topshop
Since the bloom of Christian Dior's 'So Real' sunglasses, many high street stores have included a metal bar detail into their designs. I'm a fan of this metal detail, they add an edge to any sunglasses. The mix of thick frames and metal bar is the perfect mix.

Rose and Nude: Quay Australia
As a girly girl I adore the nude and rose gold combination, and these Quay cat-eye sunglasses have gone to straight to my wish list. The mirrored lenses makes these sunglasses the perfect statement accessory: perfect for a variety of outfits.

Coloured Lens: H&M
A bold, coloured lens has become a popular trend over the past few years and has no sign of disappearing anytime soon. I love this pair from H&M: the amber blue lens against the tortoiseshell frame is very complimentary.

 K's Favourites

Round: Ray Ban
Ray Ban are the ultimate brand when it comes to producing classic sunglasses shapes in simple styles, and this pair of round sunnies are no exception! Throw this pair on to perfect that retro look, with the skinny black frames and gradient tinted lenses.

Cat-Eye: AJ Morgan
I love a good cat-eye! Bold designs with thick frames are super popular right now, but I loved this delicate pair with the translucent colouring and gold bar detail like the ones S has chosen. These are perfect if you want less of a statement look and are perfect for festival season!

Oversized: Le Specs
I can't get enough of these sunglasses: they're so huge and I love them! I feel like the perfect pair of sunnies can really make an outfit, and these can do just that. The tortoiseshell colouring isn't too bold to overpower the shape and makes for a super chic look.

What are your favourite sunglasses for the upcoming Spring/Summer season?

SUMMER WEDDING: Style

Summer wedding season is upon us this month! With both of us attending weddings, we thought we'd put together some inspiration for outfits that we love and that would be perfect for a formal summer event.

Floral Dress
We know that florals for summer are hardly groundbreaking, but this muted pastel design would be gorgeous to wear to a summer event. Teamed with all-white accessories, this outfit is classy and understated.

Dress - ASOS         Clutch - ASOS         Heeled Sandals - ASOS

Co-Ord
A summer co-ord is perfect for a summer event, especially if you dress it up with the right accessories. We love this tile print embellished co-ord from ASOS as it's dressier than a usual co-ord, and paired with muted pink shoes and a clutch, this outfit pulls together perfectly.

Embellished Co-Ord Blazer & Shorts - ASOS         Clutch - New Look         Heels - Zara

The Mini
Flirty and fun, a shorter dress has become a classic and a staple in every wardrobe. You can't go wrong with a classic cut dress, it's always a winner. Pairing a classic black dress with a pop of vibrant colour makes this look stand out from the crowd.

The dress: Oasis  The bag: Ted Baker The shoes: ASOS

The Midi
Midi dresses have become very popular this past year with many of the leading high street stores and high end designers creating collections that feature this popular hemline length. Midi dresses are perfect for an event like weddings; they're ultra feminine, elegant and chic. Choosing light colours  and floral prints makes this midi dress from Coast perfect for any summer wedding, paired with these nude heels from Kurt Geiger your look is complete.

The dress: Coast                       The shoes: Kurt Geiger

The Maxi
A maxi dress can always feel a bit risky for a wedding. At the end of the day no one wants to look too formal and out do the bride, but during summer time you can find many lovely and dressed down maxi dresses. It is  the perfect season to don the long flowing dresses for a special occasion.

The dress: ASOS

We hope this post has given you a little inspiration into what outfits we're loving for the wedding season this year. Are you attending an event this summer? Let us know on Twitter!

Be sure to check back next week with the second part to this post, dedicated to hair and beauty for summer weddings.

In the meantime, check out our profiles on Pinterest and Instagram to see what we're up to!

SUMMER GETAWAY: Style File

Welcome to this week's Summer Getaway post! Today we're talking all things style and what to wear while you're on holiday. If you missed our first Summer Getaway post last week, read it here, as we'll be creating our style looks for those destinations!

  Beach Getup

  Look One

We are loving all-white everything this summer, especially as this pure colour makes your tan look amazing! Taking inspiration from boho chic, we created this gorgeous beach outfit. Perfect for chilled out days topping up your tan on the beach.

Top: Topshop                      Shorts: Topshop              Hat: Topshop                Necklace: Accessorize             Shoes: Topshop

  Look Two

This relaxed, thrown-together look is perfect for summer. Team a classic white tee with a slouchy boyfriend-fit shirt, some comfy shorts and a floppy hat and you're all set for exploring the local town, or going for a walk along the beach. We love the use of gold jewellery too - it finishes off this look. We've paired our look together with this gorgeous powder blue Olivia Burton watch.

Shorts: River Island           Shirt: Free People          Floppy Hat: Topshop         T-Shirt: Topshop          Watch: Olivia Burton

Bright Lights, Big City

Look One

When we think of NY style, we think of effortless chic with an edge. We decided to create an outfit centred around tailored trousers. This pastel pink pair of cropped trousers are perfect for summer days in New York. We decided to pair these trousers with flat pumps but this outfit would be perfect for the evening paired with nude heels.

Trousers: ASOS                        Top: Missguided                             Shoes: H&M                                  Bag:  Topshop

   Look Two

This outfit is perfect for stopping for lunch and drinks in the city sunshine. The neutral colours make this outfit look effortless and city-chic. Swap these strappy heels for some flats for a more relaxed outfit to explore the streets of New York (and do a little shopping, obviously!)

Blouse: H&M                            Bag: Zara                            Skirt: Zara                              Heeled Sandals: New Look

Stay Styled

Look One

Inspired by the 70s style that is seen everywhere this season, this relaxing outfit is ideal for when you're exploring your staycation location. We paired a suede T-shirt dress with black gladiator sandals and tassel cross body bag for this casual 70s look.

Dress: Asos                                        Shoes: Topshop                                        Bag: Missguided

Look Two

A white tee and blue jean combo is always a classic look for summer. It's casual and comfortable: perfect for exploring seaside towns and lunching on the coast in the summer breeze. We styled this look with black and white trainers with a boxy, black quilted bag.

T-shirt: ASOS                     Trainers: New Balance                      Jeans: Topshop                         Bag: Zara

The Party Dress

Look One

For an evening look we felt that this white lace playsuit was perfect, accessorised with a discreet gold arm cuff. We decided to add a pop of colour to this outfit through the shoes and bag with these bright blues shoes and bag. These look great with the simplistic white playsuit and are ideal for summer nights.

Playsuit: Missguided            Arm Cuff: ASOS               Shoes:River Island                 Bag: River Island

    Look Two

This pastel blue and white skater-style dress is the perfect option for day-to-night wear. We love the plunge neckline and spaghetti straps on this Missguided number, and paired with white accessories, like these chic heeled sandals and boxy bag will instantly dress up your outfit for an evening spent sipping cocktails by the sea.

Dress: Missguided                             Strappy Heels: New Look                                   Bag: Topshop

#STUDENTMONDAY: Fashion & Beauty Haul

Happy Bank Holiday - we hope you've all had a lovely three-day weekend!
Welcome to the first post in our Student Monday series. As our final instalment of our student loan came through recently, we decided to treat ourselves to some new clothes. On Friday we spent the day shopping and we thought we'd show you what we bought:

New Balance Trainers: Schuh

K's been after a pair of these beauties for a while now, but has been waiting for the right style and colour combo to become available. This style is the 420 in black and grey, and can be worn with pretty much anything! We love the pop of green that the logo and insole brings to the shoes. New Balance trainers are supposed to be one of the comfiest brands around, and with Schuh's 10% student discount offer, it was hard to say no!

Khaki-Lovin'

Playsuit: H&M (similar here) - This playsuit from H&M can be dressed up or down, and that's just one of the reasons we love it! S adores it with black boots dressed up for a night out. The fabric is very light and soft and will be perfect for summer evenings.

Boots: H&M - Who can go wrong with black boots?! We believe everyone needs a good pair in their wardrobe. The suede detail on the boot reminds us of a pair of Kurt Geiger's, but at only £29, they're half the price (you can thank us later!)

Sunglasses: Topshop (same shape, different colour) - K's been looking for a good pair of sunglasses that actually suit her face shape for a while now, and after trying countless pairs on in Topshop, these were the ones that got the nod of approval from S. The green colour is complementary to most skin tones and will go with pretty much anything!

Primer: Smashbox - To us, a primer can be one of the most difficult beauty purchases, as there are so many to choose from, and you need to choose one that will do what you want it to (smooth lines, reduce the look of pores etc). We've heard so much about this one by Smashbox and the reviews have been positive so we decided to go for it. We'll keep you updated on how we find it.

Necklace: ASOS - Dainty and discreet, this necklace adds a subtle detail to the outfit without being overpowering. The layered detail draws the eye down the outfit and completes this look. Plus, at £10 this classic necklace will go with everything.

En Vogue

Sleeveless Jacket: New Look (similar here) - This sleeveless jacket is very much on trend at the moment, and we love pairing this with a long sleeved jersey tee and skinny jeans. The outfit is smart yet casual, perfect for weekend adventures.

Necklace: Primark - We are loving this statement necklace! It pairs perfectly with a plain top and the colours within the necklace add a pop of pastel colour to an outfit, and at £8 this necklace is perfect for summer.

Clutch: Miss Selfridge - This gorgeous clutch pairs beautifully with the heels below, and are perfect for a summer night out. Plus we love the cute slogan on the front - it fits perfectly for us doing fashion in Uni! Miss Selfridge do a range of these clutches in different colours with sassy sayings on the front.

Heels: Primark - These court heels are gorgeous! And found at less than £10, how could we resist getting them?! They're perfect to wear out for drinks, but possibly not for too long as we found them a little uncomfortable! Be prepared with plasters for these ones.

Bits'n'bobs

Here are some accessories we accumulated from nail vanish to sunglasses.

Eat Pretty Book: Urban Outfitters -K picked up this book as she's trying to sort out her healthy choices food-wise, and is loving reading this so far. Packed with recipes and facts, this book is a good buy.

Rimmel Soul Session Nail Varnish: Tesco - We're loving neutral nail colours recently, and this Rimmel colour is the perfect go-to for us in this not-so-spring weather we're having at the moment. We originally saw this nail polish recommended by the gorgeous Persian Babe on YouTube and have been looking for it ever since!

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner: Tesco - We've been crushing on this lip liner for what seems like forever now, after falling in love with Charlotte Tilbury's lip liners (but sadly this isn't our budget!) and going on Amelia Liana's recomendation that this Rimmel range is a perfect dupe. We love the colour Eastend Snob and at £4, you can't go wrong!

Sunglasses: ASOS - If like S you find it hard to find the perfect sunglasses, shopping for this accessory can be frustrating, but we're happy to say that S has finally found this year's sunglasses. This black pair with gold detail are the perfect size: not to small and not too big for her (in her brother's words: pea head).

We hope this haul got you inspired to go shopping ready for summer. Make sure to follow us on Instagram and Twitter to see more of our spendy purchases.
See you Friday!

#BRANDFAVES

Being fashion students, and being stereotypical girls in this sense, we love to shop. Whether it's window-shopping whilst waiting for our student loans to come in or stocking up on basics, it's pretty much a favourite hobby. (Shopping can count as cardio too, right?!)
So this month for a #faves post, we thought we'd tell you about our favourite fashion brands, ranging from high street to high end. Here are our #BrandFaves:

1. Topshop
Topshop is our go to high street store, whether we're looking for a statement outfit or a crop from their basic collection we are always sure to find what we're looking for in Topshop. The variety of trends that are in each store makes it suitable for all tastes. Topshop's flagship store in London always seems to find its way onto our itinerary whenever we are in the city.  If you haven't been you should definitely check it out! It even has a cupcake shop on the ground floor!

2. ASOS
ASOS is our favourite online-retailer by far. Not only catering to us with student discount and deals, but the range of brands they sell is diverse and offers a lot of inspiration when we're dreaming of new outfits. Having a stylists' page is also one of our favourite features of the website. You can follow different personal styles and see what picks from the website they choose!

3. New Look
This brand has always been a firm favourite for us from when the store first came to Cardiff. You can always rely on New Look for being reasonably priced and always on-trend! In our eyes, you can never go wrong with a pair of New Look shoes!

4. Mulberry
What girl doesn't like bags, right?! And Mulberry have to be by far our favourite luxury accessories brand. Their classic designs means that these bags will never go out of fashion and will be appropriate for all occasions. It's not only their beautiful deign and craftsmanship that make Mulberry one of our favourite brands; their promotional campaigns and events are a high source of inspiration for our own work.

5. Ted Baker
We fell in love with Ted Baker last year and since then S has accumulated a Ted Baker Make Up bag, Wash bag and a dress from this classically British brand. We are particularly attracted to their prints and feminine designs, as well as their accessories. (We have our eye on their bags and especially this dreamy luggage!)

Source: Ted Baker

6. Burberry
Being the brand that first inspired S to do fashion, we couldn't not include this Great British brand in our list. Burberry continue to design beautiful garments season after season and their classic trench coats and newly developed beauty ranges aree to die for.

Well that is it for our favourite brands, we hope this made you want to go and start shopping for your summer closet! It certainly has for us! We are very exited to revamp our style this summer.
This Friday's blog post sees the first in our new Festival Friday series: see you then!

EASTER STYLE GUIDE

With Easter just around the corner, today at Eleven Oh Seven we share with you some of our favourite style ideas for the Easter weekend. Whether like us you celebrate Easter with a family Easter dinner or are planning a Good Friday brunch with your friends, here are some outfit and beauty ideas for you to try out!

T-shirt: ASOS, Skirt: ASOS, Bag: Paul's Boutique, Shoes: Zara
When we think of this season, pastels instantly spring to mind, so we couldn't not include an outfit based on these gorgeous hues. We opted for pink as the staple colour for this outfit as it's a subtle pop of colour and is super-girly. This pink pencil skirt is sophisticated and paired with a tucked-in slouchy tee, it makes an effortless look worn in the day or out for a meal and drinks in the evening. This reversible clutch is perfect for this look, as you can opt for either grey or metallic pink to take the outfit from day to night.

Source: Pinterest
These gorgeous beachy waves compliment the outfit perfectly as we wanted to keep the look quite casual. This hairstyle is also really easy to achieve and is a good transitional look from Winter into Spring and Summer.

Source: Pinterest
We think this effortless and glowing make up look is perfect to compliment the beachy waves and the pastel outfit, with the nude-pink lip and use of highlighter on the cheekbones brightens the look to make it fresh for Spring.

Top: Topshop, Trousers: ASOS, Bag: Topshop, Shoes: New Look

This outfit gives an edgy twist to the classic 'florals for spring' with a slight Gothic-esque floral print. If you are looking for a different option rather than a feminine classic spring outfit, this sleek and tailored style is for you. The printed trousers are the staple piece of the outfit, and we feel that these trousers would look best paired with a classic black crop top and court heel. To complete the look we added a small grey satchel bag which pulls out the grey detail in the trousers.

Source: Pinterest
We feel this hair is perfect with the above outfit! The braided detail in the hair adds a strong statement to the hair. You can lighten the style up by adding beachy waves to the hair or create a sleek style by straightening the hair or adding a ponytail.

Source: Pinterest
This make up is fresh and light which is perfect for spring. The lip colour perfectly matches the trousers without being too dark and Wintry.

We hope you found some inspiration from these looks, and we'd love to see what looks you're loving this Easter season! Let us know on Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #SpringAtElevenOhSeven.

See you on Friday for another Easter-inspired post!
