Summer Favourites

Happy Sunday!

Today marks the last Sunday of August which means that summer is sadly coming to an end (where did the time go?!) We decided to end the summer in style by celebrating some of the products and items that we've been loving over the summer months and will continue to use into the autumn and winter.

Beauty

Confession time! I was originally attracted to this perfume because of the beautiful bottle! Luckily when I tested it in store I fell in love with the scent. Love Story has definitely become one of my all- time favourite scents.

I was introduced to Caudalie through Rosie Huntington-Whitley's Snapchat where she said that Caudalie was one of her favourite cleansers and perfect for dry skin. The cleansing oil is perfect for removing your make-up without being too harsh or drying out your skin.

The Caudalie cleansing milk soothes and cools your skin after a long day and is very hydrating.  Since switch-up of my make up remover and cleanser, my skin has improved tremendously and now feels fresher and more hydrated.

I was always unsure about trying out a cream highlighter, I could never understand how the cream formulae could be pigmented, how I was wrong! I now love this gold undertone cream highlighter!

I loved the OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass collection so much I wrote a whole post about it here. Fearlessly Alice was my favourite colour from the whole collection and the nail colour I have been wearing the most this summer.

I was lucky enough to receive this Charlotte Tilbury lip cheat for my birthday. It is the perfect nude lip colour, the lip liner is also ideal to shape and naturally over line your lips helping to create a fuller pout.

Who knew buying a red lipstick could be so hard! Every red tone I tried had never looked right on me until I tried the Eva red lipstick from L'Oreal. This Eva Red is just the shade I was looking for, perfect for summer nights.

Pixi Glow Tonic - £18.00
I bought this after seeing it recommended on Caroline Hirons' blog and love it! You really notice how it brightens and smooths the skin, and with ingredients such as witchhazel and aloe vera it's not hard to understand why!

I featured this nail varnish colour in my last post about my fake-nail experience, but I couldn't not include it as one of my summer favourites. This colour is such a gorgeous dusky/sky blue pastel and is perfect for the summer season.

This is such a lazy-girl hack for people like me who hate to moisturise after getting out of the shower. Used just like hair conditioner, but for your body, it's super quick and smells divine! Plus you don't end up with that greasy feeling of moisturiser either.

A dupe for Charlotte Tibury's 'Pillowtalk' Lip Cheat (as S has above!), it's the perfect base for all nude lipsticks and on it's own too.

This blush has been my go-to for a few months now, as it's the perfect shade for slightly bronzed summer skin. The slight sheen in the blush also is perfect for this time of year.

I've loved this perfume for a while now, but it comes in and out of stock pretty quickly so nab it while you can! It's a gorgeous smell, and as a dupe for Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb, it's so cheap! Just be aware that it's definitely not as long-lasting.

Fashion & Accessories

I fell in love with this pouch as soon as I saw it in Bristol. This pouch has now become my iPad case as it is the ideal size for holding an iPad Mini.

Since buying this Zara bag I have been using it non-stop (thankfully it goes with every outfit) sadly due to the light cream colour I have noticed that it has started to stain slightly where it has been rubbing against my clothes (mainly jeans).

This Ted Baker purse is the perfect size for all my smaller cross body bags. I love how compact the purse is while also being large enough to hold some cards and small change.

I bought this bag a few months ago in Topshop and haven't stopped wearing it this summer! It's that gorgeous shade of dusky pink which is everywhere right now and goes with pretty much everything. Definitely a summer staple that I'll be wearing through until the Autumn too.

All of Olivia Burton's watches are gorgeous, but this one goes with absolutely everything! The dot pattern on the face has the subtle detail that I love, and the grey straps match my (usually monotone!) outfits. The rose gold face also looks beautiful with summer bronzed skin.

Being a huge trainers fan (I mean, ultimate comfort for everyday wear? Yes please!) I couldn't not adore these Nike Theas. The lilac colour seems to look different depending on what you wear them with, but they've been perfect to brighten up a casual outfit.

Lifestyle

Who doesn't love Lauren Conrad right?! I have loved all her books since beauty and her latest Celebrate book has for me has been better. The mix of stunning photographs and party ideas has filled me with inspiration.

I'm a massive planner anyway, but recently I've been really into using my diary everyday as more of a planning tool: with to-do lists for the week and my days. This beautiful Cath Kidston diary has monthly and weekly spreads as well as space for shopping lists and everything else!

Gilmore Girls was always a favourite of mine to watch back when it was on e4, but I never watched the whole show in order! So when I saw all 7 seasons had been released on Netflix I was pretty excited to get into it again - does anyone else want to go and live in Stars Hollow?! Plus I think I can speak for the both of us when I say we can't wait for the new episodes later this year!

We hope you enjoyed reading about our summer favourites - what's been your go-to essentials for this season? Have a brilliant bank-holiday (if you're here in the UK) and we'll see you on Tuesday for another post.

TOTALLY BARE PRESS-ON NAILS

Happy Tuesday!
Today I'll be chatting to you about my thoughts on fake nails and my recent experience of the press-on, short term type.

I've never had really nice, long nails as they're super brittle and split and break when I try to grow them. I also always used to bite them growing up which can't have helped!  So as I was going to a wedding, I wanted to have nice nails for the occasion. I debated whether to go for a classic nude colour or the French manicure style, but as my outfit was pink, I thought I'd add some colour to my nails and have them tie in with my dusty light blue accessories.

The Totally Bare range by Elegant Touch (I got mine in Superdrug) is perfect for creating your own look: trying out nail art, or in my case, getting the perfect shade to match your outfit.
I bought the Oval (002) nails, as I wanted the most natural shape as possible and thought that I'd better stick to easier to manage nails for a newbie like me!

I bought a nail varnish to colour-match my accessories and found the perfect shade in 'Eat My Dust' from Barry M's Speedy Quick-Dry range. I then painted the nails individually before applying them with glue. This varnish only took two coats and was perfect - not streaky at all and really the perfect summer blue shade.

Being a total perfectionist, I painted two sets of nails (you get 48 individuals in the pack in 10 different sizes to your best fit) just in case I lost or damaged any before the wedding. It's recommended to use nail polish remover on your nails first to give the glue a better chance of longer staying-power which I would totally agree with. Then after that, follow the instructions and you'll have gorgeous long nails in minutes! I'll have to admit that I couldn't stop looking at them once they were on - I may be a false nail convert now!

I've loved having long nails, even if only for little over a week, even if it does make it harder to type (I'm finally getting used to it!) and with the odd nail coming off after a few days' wear.
I'd definitely recommend these nails as they're so quick to apply and are perfect for occasions or if you just want to test them out before getting longer-lasting acrylics done!

See you on Sunday for a post from the both of us!

SUNDAY WISHLIST

Today's post is all about our current wishlist items: a perfect lazy Sunday read! Read on to find out what's in our shopping baskets and what we're dreaming of this month.

S' Wishlist

Fashion: For months I've been looking for fringed heels, and these Topshop fringe heels are the perfect statement heel without being too overpowering. Paired with a skirt, dress or trousers, these heels will go with everything and the natural colour of them means that they can be transitioned into the perfect autumn heel.

Accessories: One of my favourite bag companies at the moment is Strathberry of Scotland, having discovered this brand through Victoria at 'Inthefrow', and I've been obsessed! The classic design matched with the bright pop of colour makes this bag my favourite of theirs. The metal bar detail is what makes their designs stand out to me.

Lifestyle: I am aware that we've featured this particular product several times on this blog, but I absolutely love these light up letters from Amazon: they're the perfect accessory for your home. Rustic yet modern, they add a personal touch to your space and after searching high and low I have finally found a design that I love that's still in my price range.

K's Wishlist

Beauty: I may be a little late to the party, but I'm totally obsessing over Hourglass' Ambient Lighting Blushes at the moment. The shade above (Incandescent Electra - Cool Peach) is beautifully warm with a little shimmer: perfect for late summer. The packaging and gorgeous pattern of the blush is a major attraction too!

Fashion: Abercrombie & Fitch have really stepped up their style game recently (we're loving their essentials) and this faux suede a-line skirt in brown is the perfect item to transition from summer into Autumn.

Lifestyle: We found Chloe Jane Candle Co on Instagram a few months back and I've been obsessed ever since. The Golden (vanilla caramel) candle will definitely be my first purchase, and being made of soy and coconut oil, all ingredients are natural. Win-win!

We hope you've enjoyed seeing what's on our current wishlists! We'd love to know what you're coveting this month: let us know on Twitter! Be sure to follow us on Instagram, Bloglovin & Pinterest too.

SUMMER ACCESSORIES: OUR MUST HAVES

The start of a new season is a very exciting time for fashion lovers, with the new "this season" collection in full swing! Changing of seasons allows for the perfect opportunity to experiment with your style and freshen up your look. A start of a new season does not only mean new clothes: the stores are now filled with the latest accessories perfect for this time of year. Accessories are the perfect way to customise your outfit and can also be the main feature of it!
Today at Eleven Oh Seven we talk through our favourite accessories for the coming summer months.

S' Picks

1. This Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume is the perfect scent for summer. It's light and fresh with a long-lasting scent, and the packaging is a statement in itself: beautiful and delicate. This scent is perfect for any summers day.

2. Z for Accessorize has become of of my favourite jewellery brands on the high street. Designed to be layered for a luxe aesthetic, Zara Simon's collection is this season's must have jewellery trend with it's dainty designs, discrete detail and stacking ideals. I already have my eye on her 2x wishbone stacked midi ring.

3. Pastel bags are perfect for the summer months and they're a great way to add colour to your style after the winter season. I am currently obsessing over this Topshop Boxy PU Tote. The cream colour could brighten up any outfit and the laser cut detail on the side of the bag adds an edge to the design.

4. Nail colour is the perfect way to customise an outfit. This summer, Olivia Palermo has teamed up with Ciaté London to create this luxe collection. I love these colours as they are perfect for summer. With a mix of bright red, coral and a pinky nude perfect for a Summer wedding, this collection will definitely get your nails summer ready.

5. Heeled sandals and fringing are two of the most popular trends this summer and when I spotted these fringe high heeled sandals from Zara I couldn't help but have the urge to buy them there and then. Also in cream, this shoe would be perfect to add a statement to any outfit without being too overpowering.

6. As soon as summer hits, everyone becomes obsessed with sunglasses! This year I love the ShayxQuay collection (similar here). Her statement designs add a modern twist to the classic sunglasses design. I couldn't resist picking a pair up when they were released in the UK (check out our Instagram to see which ones I chose!)

K's Picks

1. This Zara perfume: Vanilla Wood is a firm favourite of mine, with hints of mandarin, peach, cocoa and praline as well as the obvious vanilla, this scent is lightly floral and fruity - perfect for summer days and evenings.

2. Birkenstocks seem to have the 'Marmite' effect: you either love them or hate them. Safe to say that I'm definitely in the former category, and with the majority of high street stores bringing out their own versions of this strap style sandle, you can wear them for a more affordable price. I love these original Birkenstocks from ASOS in white as they're a classic colour that will perfectly accompany your summer wardrobe.

3. Phone and tablet cases are a perfect way to dress up your tech and update their aesthetic throughout the year, giving that extra flash of colour and design to your overall look. I'm a huge fan of this Rifle Paper Co. case, as it's boldly floral and hand-designed.

4. As S said, nail colour is the perfect way to finish off an outfit, matching them to your accessories or a colour you're wearing. I personally love pastels for summer (as well as spring) as they always look great with a tan! These Topshop colours: Boy Next Door and Parma Violet are my current favourites, and being part of Topshop's limited edition '5 Years of Beauty' range, they come in this gorgeous rose gold packaging!

5. A summer styled hat is a definite essential for me this time of year. Not only do they aid with keeping the sun out of your eyes, but can pull a outfit together, especially when you're off to the beach! This braided Madeline hat from Free People is gorgeous with a wide brim and ribbon detail.

6. Ear cuffs are the perfect jewellery statement this season, ranging from dainty to bold and elaborate designs. Being a rose gold fan (if you couldn't already guess!), I love this cute leaf/vine inspired design ear cuff from Topshop. It's understated design will add that little bit of extra attention to your jewellery this summer.
