SUMMER BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Today at Eleven Oh Seven we're talking beauty! We always find ourselves customising our make up bag to the current season, whether it's dusting off brighter lip colours or using a lighter foundation. We can safely say that the start of this season has been no different, so today have decided to share with you our beauty favourites for this season.


S' Favourites

Gimme Brow - Benefit
I am aware that I'm late on the Gimme Brow product hype, but as I felt that my brows needed a little help to keep shape during the day, I decided to try Benefit's Gimme Brow. This product has been exactly what I've been looking for it keeps my eyebrows in shape all day and adds depth to the brow, making it perfect for any time of the year.

Lipstick 210 Coral in Gold - Rimmel
A bright lip for summer? Shocker! But I, like others love to experiment more with my lip colour during the summer months. This season I'm loving this orange coloured lipstick from Rimmel called 210 Coral in gold. It's on trend and goes perfectly with my gold/bronzed eyes. During the summer months I also like to wear a brighter pink colour lip for a more bold look.

Oatifix Face Mask - Lush
During recent weeks I have noticed my face feeling a little bit more dry. I'm not sure whether it's products I've previously used or the warmer weather, but I decided to use a hydrating face mask. I tried one of the natural face masks from Lush called Oatifix. I can safely say that I am in love with this product and have highly felt the benefits: my skin feels hydrated and very nearly back to it's previous condition after only two weeks of using it! The natural ingredients are soothing on the skin and definitely adds a glow.

Micellar Cleansing Water - Garnier
As I mentioned above about my skin recently, I also decided to stop using make up wipes and begin removing my make up with this Garnier Micellar cleansing water. I find that this product has helped restore the natural hydration in my skin and easily takes off my make up with out damaging my skin.

Naked 3 Palette - Urban Decay
Ever since receiving the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette for Christmas I've been obsessed with it! It's perfect for any occasion: for day to day subtle looks or a more dramatic evening look. For summer I tend to use more of the gold bronze colours for a more glowing look for the lighter and warmer evenings. If I haven't already talked about the Naked 3 palette before on the blog, (then where have I been?!) the colours are very pigmented and last all day. Plus with the help of primer the eye shadow doesn't crease which is great during the summer months when the weather is hotter.



K's Favourites

Dry Shampoo - Batiste
This is an all-year must-have for me, but in the summer on hot days or when you just want an extra bit of texture and volume in your hair, this product works wonders. It's so quick and easy to use, it makes your hair look great in-between washes.

Face Form - Sleek Make Up
This contour-and-blush kit (I purchased the kit in the shade Light) is so gorgeous for summer, containing contour powder, highlight and a beautiful shimmery pink blush. All three are super pigmented, but still look natural for a subtle contour.

Anti-Age Under Eye Concealer - Maybelline
After hearing so many rave reviews about this product I thought I'd give it a go, and I wasn't disappointed! The spongy applicator helps apply the concealer evenly, and it has brilliant coverage without feeling heavy on my skin. On good skin days in the summer, this product will be enough to use under the eyes and on a few blemishes without wearing foundation too.

Healthy Mix Serum - Bourjois Paris
This gel based foundation is perfect for the summer as it feels a lot lighter on the skin than a regular liquid foundation. The formulation glides on the skin beautifully and gives a medium coverage, slightly glowy look, as well as smelling gorgeous and fruity. The product boasts to last for 16 hours, but I haven't found that, as I have combination/oily skin. However using a primer and setting powder does give you that extra staying power.

Coconut & Pear Hydrating Lip Balm - Burt's Bees
I'm a huge Burt's Bees fan, from their moisturisers to body lotions, all the products I've tried are amazing! I own a fair few of the lip balms in the range, but this coconut and pear product is my favourite for the summer season - it really does hydrate your lips and keep them smelling sweet.

Vanilla & Saffron Body Lotion - Liz Earle
Surprise, surprise, Liz Earle makes another appearance in a favourites post! I was so happy that Liz extended her range to include body wash and lotions as I knew they'd be good quality, much like the rest of her products! With vanilla being one of my favourite scents, this saffron and vanilla infusion lotion was a no-brainer for me, and I love it. It's a gorgeous sweet smell that lasts and leaves your skin feeling super soft.

MARCH MADNESS

As March comes to a close, we look back at the first glimpse of Spring though our Instagram's eyes.

The month began with a big University deadline which we celebrated with a launch party at Buffalo bar in Cardiff. We created a Mothers Day Gift Guide to help each other with ideas for the perfect Mothers Day gift.  S also showed us around Paris with her 48 Hours in Paris post. Mid-March saw the changing of the seasons: Spring had sprung which made us think about our beauty regimes with K talking about her Hair Essentials to us receiving a Tweet from Liz Earle herself (you can imagine the excitement)!
The end of March at Eleven Oh Seven was all about Easter with two Easter-themed posts: a style guide and a favourites post. Here are some images to help sum up this busy yet exiting month:

We also welcomed in Spring with dreaming about fresh flowers, celebrating International Women's Day with this gorgeous type-quote from Harley Quinn & Co and treating ourselves to some amazing waffles at Kaspa's Desserts in Cardiff.

SAY GOODBYE TO THE FRIZZ!

Being a long-time sufferer of frizzy hair (especially after rain, during humid weather, or just the elements in general), K wanted to share her top three frizz-reducing haircare products that she's tried and tested. And guess what? They actually work! Read on and say goodbye to that frizz.

K likes to use more natural products on her hair, especially after colouring and all the above are SLS-free

1. Aveda brilliant Spray-On Shine (100ml): £18
Having previously used the Emollient Finishing Gloss from Aveda's 'brilliant' range, I knew that this product would be of the same great quality and do wonders for my hair (and last forever too, with the gloss lasting at least a year using it a few times a week). Using Vitamin E, this product advertises to give an instant shine boost to the hair, as well as taming flyaways and keeping frizz on the D.L.
After using the product for the first time, I realised I'd gone a little crazy and sprayed too much, resulting in the ends of my hair looking greasy. You only need around two sprays for the product to do the job, and now I've started to spray the product onto my hands and then run through hair which works a lot better. Using it after blow-drying my hair really tames the frizz that often occurs and I find that it makes my hair feel super smooth, give that little extra shine and smell amazing!


2. Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil - Heat/UV Protective Primer (250ml): £19
I purchased this product after hearing glowing reviews from bloggers, including Lo Bosworth, and with S being an advocate for the brand's Surf Spray (she loves the stuff), I thought I'd give it a go. Not only does this product smell gorgeous, it makes my hair feel so soft and look it, too, which is a problem I've had in the past with frizz-taming products, especially with coloured hair.
Being a heat protective product, I've found this primer works better on wet hair, and even with leaving my hair dry naturally, it kills the frizz completely and allows me to easily brush my hair after washing it, leaving it ready to style. Again, I use a few sprays on my hands to run through my hair, and with an extra spritz on the ends of my locks, I'm good to go! Bumble and Bumble may be seen as an expensive brand, but I assure you this product is definitely worth the money, and I'll be trying out other products from the Invisible Oil range, especially with them being sulfate-free.


3. Liz Earle Botanical Shine Treatment for Frizzy, Coarse or Very Dry Hair (150ml): £14
Sadly, Liz Earle have recently stopped selling this product (to my disappointment, I seriously love this stuff), but just in case your local Liz stockists may have a few left, I thought I'd include this in my top three products. I use this treatment as exactly that, a treat for my hair once a week or so, as otherwise I'd be using it up so quickly! Boasting the natural ingredients of algae, apple, orange and cotton extracts, the product is advertised to be used on frizzy, dry or coarse hair - perfect for us frizzy-haired girls! I use the treatment after shampoo in the shower instead of a conditioner, and leave the citrus-smelling product in for around 20-30 minutes and let it do its work! After washing the product out, you can already feel the difference, leaving hair easy to brush through and when combined with the B&B primer, super smooth even during hair-drying. I'd highly recommend this product to anyone who has hair similar to mine, being frizzy and rather thick too, it works wonders on it. I can't wait to try out the new and improved Nourishing Hair Oil too, with the old one being discontinued a few months ago.

OUR TOP BEAUTY PICKS

Since starting university, we have quickly become beauty enthusiasts. Whether it's new make up releases or beauty tutorials, we are obsessed! Today we’re sharing with you our current favourite beauty obsessions.

  

Whenever I find myself late in the morning and don’t have much time to spend on my make up, I will concentrate of three features on my face: brows, eyelashes and lips.  As long as I have mascara and a bit colour on my lips I feel ready for the day ahead.

When it comes to mascaras throughout my years of wearing make up I have tried a lot, but out of all the mascaras I have tried YSL baby doll and Tarte lights camera lashes have become my all time favourites. Both mascaras give the illusion of long feathered eyelashes. 

A lip colour I am loving during these winter months is Rimmel lasting finish by Kate lipstick in the shade Rossetto. I mix it with a nude lip colour from Topshop to create a more subtle look for daytime.

Urban Decay is one of my favourite beauty brands; ever since receiving the Naked 3 pallet I am obsessed! I very rarely use any other eye shadows as I feel that all I need is in the pallet. I even use ‘Darkside’ as a brow shadow as it is the perfect colour to match my hair. The colours in the Naked 3 pallets are very pigmented, blend easily and last a long time without creasing.

I am also in love with Urban Decay’s blush pallet: the colours compliment my skin tone and the products blend perfectly for a natural blush.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Eyeshadow, (slightly battered!) Collection Concealer and Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish

Liz Earle: Cleanse and Polish
This plant-based cleanser has been my go-to for removing my make-up for years now (thanks to my mum for sourcing the brand in its infancy!) and I have no intention of ever changing it! The products creamy consistency is kind to my skin, doesn't include harsh or nasty chemicals and it leaves my face feeling as soft as, well, you know how the saying goes! With the starter kit (including the 100ml pump bottle and a muslin cloth) costing £15.50, it's not the cheapest cleanser on the market, but if you're looking for a more natural skincare product to include in your routine, this Liz Earle cleanser is definitely worth it.

Collection: Lasting Perfection Concealer 
This cover-up is my all-time favourite. I gave in to the hype a few years ago when everyone and his dog seemed to be raving about it, and I haven't looked back since - I've repurchased it so many times! Since I suffer from areas of redness on my face and discolouration beneath my eyes, this product is perfect for covering these unwanted areas of colour right up along with those pesky spots, and more importantly, it stays put.  Priced at £4.19, this cover-up is a no-brainer for me, as something that really works and doesn't irritate my skin, too.

Maybelline: Colour Tattoo Eyeshadow in 'On and On Bronze'
This cream gel eyeshadow from Maybelline is my definite favourite when I don't have a lot of time in the mornings, but still want some colour on my lids. The formulation is buttery and so easy to blend, a smoky eye look is easily attainable in seconds. The product claims to last for 24 hours, and although maybe it'd struggle to last that long (on my unprimed eyelids, that is) it gives a damn good go! The pigmentation of the eyeshadow is brilliant too - you can apply just one coat all over the lid for a gorgeous shimmery glow (the bronze colour matches well with my brown eyes) or can build it up for a more glam evening look, using more in the crease of the eyelid for a more smoky effect. Priced at £4.99, I'm struggling to find reasons why I haven't bought the whole range!
