Favourite Boxsets for a Rainy Day

Hi all!

Autumn has definitely arrived here in Wales, with non-stop rain and the cold starting to creep up on us. Don't get me wrong, I love this time of year but sometimes there's nothing more you want to do when it's pouring outside than to cosy up with a duvet and pop on some well-loved TV shows. I know I'm not the only one!

Here are some of my favourite boxsets that I find perfect for rainy-day viewing.

Friends

I mean, this one's a no-brainer! I've never met anyone who doesn't love this show, and it always manages to perk me up regardless of how many times I've seen the episodes. Not only are the episodes hilarious and have the best cameos, but the characters super relatable. We all know a Pheobe, right?!

Gilmore Girls

As previously mentioned on our Summer Favourites post, I've been super obsessed with this show since the whole 7 seasons appeared on Netflix over the summer. It re-introduced me to a show I used to watch after school and now I don't know how I went so long without watching Lorelai & Rory's hilarious lives and sarcastic comments.

Gossip Girl

Again, this is probably a no-brainer for many of you reading this! This show started when I was a teenager so I was 100% hooked from the beginning, but can re-watch the episodes and not get bored. The lavish lifestyles, the Upper-East-siders' wardrobes, the Humphreys' Brooklyn loft: it's such a different world from many that you can easily get sucked in and binge watch!


Gavin & Stacey

This may not be such a popular choice for some of you, and maybe some haven't heard of it, but this show never fails to make me laugh. It also helps that it's filmed in South Wales, so it's super relatable and I've grown up visiting the places it's been filmed. One of my favourite scenes will always be James Corden and Sheridan Smith rapping to Estelle's American Boy.

 

PLL 

This show is definitely my guilty pleasure. I got hooked from the influence of S and another housemate from Uni who were serious fans of the show from the beginning, which I'm both grateful and maybe not-so-grateful for because I'm now so invested that I can't stop watching! I mean, will we ever find out who A is?!

I hope I haven't inspired whole-series binges with this post, but I'm now off to grab a cuppa and get some more Gilmore Girls on the go...

Keeping Your Long-Distance Friendships

University is the best place for making lifelong friendships, so after spending 3 years together life can seem pretty weird and a little tough when you and your uni mates move back home... to different parts of the country (or even the world!)

Today's post will be a few of our tips on how not to lose contact with your uni pals and be able to maintain 'long-distance friendships'.

1. The Power of Social Media: Set up a Group Message

With the advances in social media over the years, staying in touch with long-distance friends has been made much easier. Thanks to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram we can keep up to date with our friends' lives without even seeing them. Whether it's via text or Whatsapp, a group chat is the best way to keep up-to-date with everyone's news at once - it'll almost feel like you're all just having a chat in the same room. Just with more emojis. Group chats also create a space where you can all stay in touch, get advice and give opinions about the TV shows you love (Ahem, PLL! WHO IS A.D?!) Our group also love Snapchat, sending each other 10 second videos of our day is a great way to show each other how we are spending our time at home. 

2. Take trips to Everyone's Hometowns

Birthdays and celebrations are the perfect opportunity to arrange to meet up with your long-distance friends. If you don't already, plan to have your friends over during your birthday week (yes, a whole week is perfectly acceptable!), this will not only be a nice way to celebrate your birthday but will also be a great opportunity to catch up and spend some quality time together in a new place and have a tour of everyone's home towns!

3. Try Meeting in the Middle

Social media can be great and is an amazing resource for us to stay in touch, but nothing can compare to meeting up face-to-face. Living far away from your friends can make it difficult to meet up and with everyone doing their own thing you can go months without even arranging the next meet up!  This is why we always like to have a date in mind as to when to meet up next. Whether it's day trips or a weekend away, dedicating time in your diary to meet up will mean you won't have to go more than a few months without seeing each other. Plus, meeting somewhere roughly in the middle of where you all live can mean a day out in a new place with you all splitting the travel difference and cost.

4. Send "Snail Mail"

Cards and letters are a really cute and thoughtful means of communication. Especially if it's someone's birthday or if you haven't seen them in a while! It shows that you're thinking of them and have taken the time to do something for you. Plus, it's always nice to get something through the letterbox that isn't from the bank!

Why We Love an Easter Weekend!

Happy Easter everyone! 

Easter weekend has finally arrived. For some, Easter can be a more enjoyable holiday than even Christmas with much less hype and stress. With more time off work, Easter can truly be a time to enjoy with family and friends. The Easter holiday also means a four day weekend here in the UK, something that doesn't happen often. So with that said, today's post is all about four reasons we love Easter weekend!

1. Time to relax: With a four day weekend, Easter is the perfect time to relax and recharge our batteries. It's the perfect opportunity to make more time for ourselves whether it's having a few hours extra in bed or taking some time in the afternoon to relax in the bath with some Easter inspired bath products. Lush have a beautiful Easter/Spring collection which we talked about in our previous post.

2. Seeing family and friends: Easter for many families is the first major holiday after Chistmas when the whole family will be sitting around the same table enjoying each other's cooking and company. The Easter weekend is also a great opportunity to meet and catch up with friends.

3. Films: Like Christmas, in the UK many of the TV channels will be showing old films throughout Easter weekend. We personally can't wait to watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on Sunday afternoon!

4. Treats: Finally, how could we talk about the Easter weekend without mentioning chocolate?! The one weekend when not eating chocolate is frowned upon, we will most definitely be enjoying an egg or two before the weekend is over!

APRIL ADVENTURES

The end of another month brings us to another look back at our Instagram! Since we've been enjoying our Easter holidays this month, our posts show our life with some more time off, and in the well-needed sunshine!

April was an exciting month for for us here at Eleven Oh Seven, with us creating our first ever mini-series called Festival Friday. With Coachella giving us major festival style inspiration, we covered Beauty looks, festival style we love and our top festival essentials. We also topped up on some of our beauty favourites ready for our summer make up and beauty must haves. 

Between dreaming of Coachella, we celebrated Easter this month by painting eggs (with glitter of course!) and eating our body weight in chocolate. This month K also went to see her first love Ben Howard in Cardiff and spent a few days in Brussels for a mini city break (blog post to follow soon!)

At the end of the month we were reunited with our house-mates after our Uni Easter break and celebrated with cocktails and cheesecake inside a genuine campervan at Apple Jacks Cardiff.
