SUMMER CELEBRATIONS: Dinner Party

Welcome to our last Summer Celebrations post! This week, we're talking about throwing dinner parties in the summer season.

When talking about entertaining outside, many tend to think about parties in the garden, but one of S' fondest summer memories is having dinner on a secluded beach in Portugal.  There's something very special and calming about the beach, that's why one of our favourite alternative locations to host a summer dinner party would be on a quiet beach at sunset.

Being in the UK, the weather may not always do what we want it to, so hosting your dinner party indoors is always a safe option. You can dress your table as formal or as casual as you like: we love the versatility of a dinner party! For summer dinner parties, we like to serve our guests inside and then progress to the garden for after-dinner drinks.

A few of our top tips for hosting the perfect dinner party:

Create the perfect playlist. Depending on the occasion for your event, the music choice will need to change to suit that, and your guests.

Decor
. You may have already noticed, but we here at Eleven Oh Seven love our decor design. Creating and choosing a theme for your dinner party will pull everything together, and make your event look polished and professional.

Seating Plan. Pre-planning where people will sit is an essential to some, especially if you want to avoid over-dinner arguments (think Real Housewives!)

We hope you've enjoyed our theme for this month and found some inspiration for your summer celebrations!

SUMMER WEDDING: Hair and Beauty

To continue last week's wedding themed style post, this one is all about wedding hair and beauty styles we're loving for the event season this summer. These looks can be used for a ball, graduation or any other event.

The Laid Back Nude Look
We love laid back looks here at Eleven Oh Seven, and this gorgeous barely-there make up on Amanda Seyfried is perfect for a summer event. The pinky nude lips and nails to match paired with beachy waves make for the ultimate laid-back glam.

The Bold Lip Retro Look
Who doesn't love a retro bombshell look?! These gorgeous waves are so classy, making this hairstyle perfect for a formal event. Plus, it works easily on short or long-haired girls. Team your retro look with a bold or deep red lip with nails to match.

The Braided Updo
Having your hair up at a summer wedding event always looks gorgeous, whether it's slicked back into a chic ponytail, or, what we love, a tousled braided look. Milkmaid braids, French braids: you name it! Accompany your updo with feminine make up, like a light smoky eye or a dark lip. Matte nails will set off this look.

The Bronzed Beauty
Summer tans need to be shown off, right? We're loving the beauty trend of 'strobing' at the moment (created using highlighter alone) so to show off your beachy complexion, get your hair off your face with a relaxed half-up-half-down look. Keep your eyes natural with bronze-colours and having golden or peachy warm tones for nails will complete your look!

We hope these few hair and beauty ideas will give you some inspiration this summer. Let us know on Twitter if you're planning on recreating any of these looks!

Be sure to follow us on Pinterest (where all these looks can be found!) and Instagram to keep up to date with us this summer.

We'll see you on Sunday for our last Summer Celebrations post, but in the meantime, catch up here with our previous posts on birthdays, BBQs and ice-cream and cocktail events!

SUMMER CELEBRATIONS: BBQ

This week's Summer Celebrations post is all about the ultimate summer event: the BBQ.

Let's Eat - When it comes to BBQ's we always find that the whole event is centred around food and we love it! You can create and display food as aesthetically pleasing as it is tasty.

Cheers - The second most important element within a BBQ is drinks; making sure every glass is topped up at all times. Drink displays can be so interesting, especially in today's 'Instagram ready' world, this area can become part of the decor. Whether it's creating a sweet table for the glasses and drinks or filling a wheel barrow with ice and letting the drinks cool in that.

Alfresco Style - The best part about a BBQ is eating outside under the summer sun. There's something very social and relaxing about gathering around a wooden table and eating in the open air (maybe because it reminds us of being on holiday abroad).

Decoration - If you haven't guessed already, we love decor! From planning on Pinterest to creating the finished look, we love it all. A summer BBQ is no different. When hosting any event in the garden we always find ourselves attracted to vintage bunting hung from tree to tree. We are also obsessed with strategically hung strings of magical lights around the garden.

If you're having a summer BBQ this year, we hope this post inspired you to create a Pinterest perfect night!

SUMMER WEDDING: Style

Summer wedding season is upon us this month! With both of us attending weddings, we thought we'd put together some inspiration for outfits that we love and that would be perfect for a formal summer event.

Floral Dress
We know that florals for summer are hardly groundbreaking, but this muted pastel design would be gorgeous to wear to a summer event. Teamed with all-white accessories, this outfit is classy and understated.

Co-Ord
A summer co-ord is perfect for a summer event, especially if you dress it up with the right accessories. We love this tile print embellished co-ord from ASOS as it's dressier than a usual co-ord, and paired with muted pink shoes and a clutch, this outfit pulls together perfectly.

Embellished Co-Ord Blazer & Shorts - ASOS         Clutch - New Look         Heels - Zara

The Mini
Flirty and fun, a shorter dress has become a classic and a staple in every wardrobe. You can't go wrong with a classic cut dress, it's always a winner. Pairing a classic black dress with a pop of vibrant colour makes this look stand out from the crowd.

The Midi
Midi dresses have become very popular this past year with many of the leading high street stores and high end designers creating collections that feature this popular hemline length. Midi dresses are perfect for an event like weddings; they're ultra feminine, elegant and chic. Choosing light colours  and floral prints makes this midi dress from Coast perfect for any summer wedding, paired with these nude heels from Kurt Geiger your look is complete.

The Maxi
A maxi dress can always feel a bit risky for a wedding. At the end of the day no one wants to look too formal and out do the bride, but during summer time you can find many lovely and dressed down maxi dresses. It is  the perfect season to don the long flowing dresses for a special occasion.

We hope this post has given you a little inspiration into what outfits we're loving for the wedding season this year. Are you attending an event this summer? Let us know on Twitter!

Be sure to check back next week with the second part to this post, dedicated to hair and beauty for summer weddings.

SUMMER CELEBRATIONS: Ice Cream & Cocktail Party

Happy Sunday and welcome to the second part of our Summer Celebrations series here at Eleven Oh Seven.

Following on with this month's theme and last week's post all about summer birthday parties, this week we decided to create a post inspired by two of our favourite things; ice cream and cocktails! Throwing an ice cream and cocktail party is not only interesting, fun and a little bit different to the norm, this style of event can be budget-friendly with a lot of it being D.I.Y, and would be a great and relaxing event to create lasting memories with friends and family. Today we'll be giving you a little inspiration into how to throw one of these parties, whether pastel fits your palette, or rustic is more your thing.

Pastel

When thinking of ice cream, pastel colours always come to mind. Instead of trying to fight this stereotypical colour scheme, we decided to embrace and celebrate it. Pastels and summer are the perfect combination, with light and refreshing colours against the backdrop of blue skies and the green grass of your garden. We think this sounds idyllic!

Rustic

A rustic aesthetic has become a popular choice for many recently and we couldn't agree more. This aesthetic is perfect for a country garden and a hot summers day. Creating this look at home doesn't have to be expensive (although we'd love our own circus-esque lightbulb letters!), the beauty of a rustic look is that it can be created with an eclectic mix of woods found in and around your home or collected over time from different country walks.

We hope this has given you some inspiration for throwing your own cocktail and ice-cream station event. Even if it's incorporating these ideas into a birthday party or even wedding event!

If you haven't already done so, remember to follow our Pinterest boards: we're pinning away all through the summer, with a mix of fashion, food, interiors and so much more (yes, we're definitely obsessed with this site). There's something for everyone to get inspired by.

We hope you've been enjoying your weekends, whether that's spent outside in the sunshine or with plenty of junk food and Netflix!

S' BIRTHDAY POST!

Happy hump day everyone!

On the 4th of July I celebrated my 21st birthday! When it comes to celebrating my birthday I'm not the most organised, and to be honest, I don't like to have big parties and the pressure of a group of people coming together to celebrate my birthday. Saying that, I felt as though I couldn't let my 21st pass without spending it with my nearest and dearest, so I decided to organise some smaller birthday celebrations with smaller groups.

The first birthday celebration I had was a week before my birthday in Cardiff with my University friends. We started off at Wagamamas, and the food was delicious as always! (If you ever go you have to try the duck goyzas, they're a firm favourite here at Eleven Oh Seven).
After food we headed over to Ten Mill Lane for some birthday drinks. I can't believe I'd never been there before: the atmosphere at the bar was great, so relaxed and easy going! The cocktails were the best we've ever had (anyone thought of putting balsamic and basil in a cocktail before? We hadn't either!) the staff were all so helpful and friendly making the experience that little bit extra special for us, and let's just say the aesthetic of the bar was just Pinterest perfect! I highly recommend a visit to Ten Mill Lane the next time you're in Cardiff.

On the day of my birthday I decided to have a chilled BBQ with my family and some friends. Again, I didn't want anything too formal or hard to organise. It was a lovely evening; the sun was shining and it was nice to spend time with my family and friends to celebrate my 21st.

I had such a lovely birthday, hope you enjoyed these images!

SUMMER CELEBRATIONS: Birthday Party

If you read our last post, you'll have seen that our theme for this month is Summer Celebrations, and today kicks off July with our first post - all about birthdays. Today we'll be sharing some top tips to create the perfect celebration event for a loved one, or yourself (if you're planning-crazy like us!) on a birthday.

Floral Fancy
If you're planning a celebration for a flower-loving girl, a tea party affair will be the perfect set-up. Think pastel tones and plenty of cutesy accessories to decorate your space. Pinterest will be your best friend whilst planning a party, especially with decorating! Learn how to make your own flower garlands here and floral arrangements and floral photobooth walls are in abundance. Cocktails served in shallow glasses or milk bottles with straws will also add to the cute look.

Neutral Nomad
For the guy or girl who loves to travel, a nomadic inspired event will be the perfect look for a birthday. To suit the theme, an outdoor space would be ideal to home seating areas and canopies. To continue festivities into the evening, prepare your space with lots of candles and lanterns to brighten up seating areas and tables. As a nod to the person you're celebrating's love of travel and making memories, encourage party-goers to bring photographs with them to attach to trees below, making them different focal points of the space. Country-themed tables would also work really well, with decor and food appropriate to a certain place, i.e Italy.

Glitz & Glam
For the girl that loves to party, and has a taste for the finer things in life, a birthday event doesn't mean going to a glitzy location - it's all in the details! Pick a few colours and make that a theme. We personally love gold or platinum teamed with white and a pale pastel option as it keeps the decor light and classy. Glitter will also be essential, either dipping or filling balloons with it, or just dressing the tables with a little sprinkle of sparkle!A photobooth with similar coloured props will work well too, and as an extra touch, ask the guests to come in neutral colours, and have the birthday girl in pink so she stands out!

These birthday ideas are only the start, there's so much more you can do! You can personalise each of these ideas to suit your birthday girl/guy down to the ground, or just keep it generic! Have you planned any birthday events or have any tips for party decor? Let us know on Twitter, we'd love to hear from you!
